For example, I though normally 4:3 only was on by default, but in my registry it's off - and I've never had the game on this computer, nor have I gotten to any resolution settings. I have a feeling Steam is trying to sync some files or registry data, and it is breaking things. I even tried activating the no serial demo mode, and it doesn't accept it. I can only confirm the 'invalid' serial or exit. There is no 'activate via internet' option. Even after deleting serial key it just makes a new one with the same information.
